Faces of Turkey

Bayram, a shopkeeper in Kemer.

Some of the people that we met in Kemer, Denizli and Pamukkale. Turkey is a country with beautiful landcscapes, memorable food, great weather and a thrilling history - but its people make the most vivid impression of all.

The Road to Pamukkale: Antalya to Denizli (Turkey)

The Road to Pamukkale.

Seventeen hours on a bus with fourty Russian tourists, travelling along dusty roads through barren landscapes,  wouldn’t sound like a romantic trip to most couples on their honeymoon. But then again, not many couples could look forward to a dip in the therapeutic mineral pools at the end of the journey as much as Anastasiya and I, when we signed up for a trip from Kemer to Pamukkale.

Coming To Our Senses In Kemer (Antalya Province, Turkey)

Three schoolboys from Kemer play catch in the Mediterranean Sea.

In July my fiancée Anastasiya and I spent a week in Kemer, near Antalya in southern Turkey. It was a sort of  honeymoon for us, two weeks before our wedding.
.
Each morning and evening we sunbathed on Kemer’s pebble beach, and swam in the warm Mediterranean Sea. In the middle of the day (when the sun was too hot to stay outside) we explored the town, and discovered attractive streets lined with palm trees, charismatic and kind people, and sumptuous food. Kemer refreshed all our senses.
