Studying, working and travelling in Russia, and unravelling the Russian soul: A chat with Russia Beyond

Johnathan Campion writer Russia Beyond

I was recently invited to be a guest on the YouTube channel of the media project Russia Beyond.

In an interview with Moscow-based radio host and journalist Tim Kirby, I talked about my experiences in Russia over the last 16 years: why I chose to study in the small towns of Yaroslavl and Tver; how I returned to Moscow as an analyst in Russia’s alcohol business; and what inspired me to travel to the most remote parts of the country – the Arctic North, and the republics of Mari El and Buryatia. We also talked about the true meaning of «russkaya dusha» – the Russian soul – my plans for the future, and much more.
