I finished a degree in Russian at Exeter University in 2007, and for nine years I was the in-house translator and proofreader at the law firms Volkov & Partners and Beiten Burkhardt in Kyiv, Ukraine (2007 – 2010) and at Adam Smith Conferences in London (2011 – 2015).
As part of my degree course I spent a year studying in Russia, at Yartek Language School in Yaroslavl and at Tver State University.
I also take on translation assignments on a freelance basis. Since 2010 I have worked for The Calvert Journal (Russian culture), Sovcomflot Group (oil & gas shipping), Eurasian Linguistics (law, finance), Russian Insight (political intelligence), WorldOne (medical research) and many other companies. I also volunteer to translate reports for the children’s charity HealthProm, based in London.
