A story that I wrote about my son Andrew, and a trip we made to Bulgaria’s Thracian Valley when he was four, is included in a new book by Bradt Travel Guides called ‘Kidding Around: Tales of Travel with Children’.
The anthology features 37 stories by travel-writing parents, about family journeys and adventures on five continents. As well as my contribution ‘Bulgarian Lessons’, there is writing by Dervla Murphy (who also wrote the foreword), National Geographic Traveller Editorial Director Maria Pieri, authors Adrian Phillips and Mike Unwin, and nature writers Amy-Jane Beer and Nicola Chester.

There is more information about ‘Kidding Around’ on this page of the Bradt Guides website, where you can also buy the book. The anthology is available in bookshops in the UK from 5 October.
